Collaboration at the heart of each success

Katie Burks Founder, Executive Director
Above all else, Katie Burks proudly calls herself a dancer, but lifelong passion for the performing arts has fostered the privilege of performing, teaching, collaborating, and creating dance, theatre, and interdisciplinary work across the United States and internationally. In 2017, Katie began her foray into the field of humanitarian relief as a volunteer on the frontlines of areas affected by Hurricane Harvey (Texas) and Hurricane Irma (Florida). Katie founded Artists Sans Frontières with the fervent belief that the performing arts should be accessible to everyone - no matter what their geographic, physical, or financial situation. A proud native of Dallas, Texas, Katie is a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Point Park University and a Master of Fine Arts in Choreography from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

BOARD
OF DIRECTORS

President
Darla Cordova
Darla Cordova’s two daughters became involved with dance from the time they could walk - but they were learning to sing and play the piano with their grandmother, a music teacher, even before then! A proud supporter of the performing arts, Darla commends the independence and discipline that performing arts education and training offers children and young adults. Darla pursued music and dance through high school then graduated from Stephen F Austin State University with a BBA in Accounting. Throughout over 30 years of management and accounting experience, Darla held various booster club board positions and facilitated fundraising events for her daughter’s drill and dance teams. Currently the Accountant and Office Manager for leading Dallas interior design firm, Mary Anne Smiley Interiors, Darla uses her spare time to support ASF’s mission to bring the performing arts wherever they are needed. In addition to serving ASF as Board President, Darla enjoys the culinary and literary arts and loves to travel with her husband of 35 years, Manny.

Director of Marketing and Communications
Korie Bukovelo
Married to a Ukrainian immigrant and having visited Ukraine many times (Ukraine is her second home) Korie Bukovelo knew she had to get involved with ASF when she learned of the work being done to help Ukrainian refugees. A marketer and event planner with over 10 years of experience, Korie’s incredible background includes a Bachelor’s in French and International Relations with a concentration in the Developing World, and a Master’s in International Business. Korie has always been interested in global events as well as doing her part as a global citizen. She is excited to transfer skills developed in the corporate worlds of hospitality, fitness, and IT into the nonprofit space and to aid in furthering ASF’s reach. Outside of work, Korie loves musical performance – especially theatre and choir – but leaves dancing on stage to her daughter Myroslava, who she shares with the love of her life and husband Sergii.

Director at Large
Vithya Ramadoss
Vithya Ramadoss' love for the performing arts developed at a young age as a student of dance and the dramatic arts in San Angelo, Texas. The first born of Indian immigrants, Vithya’s vibrato as a violinist outshined her performance abilities – so much so that her musical talent allowed her to perform pre-professionally with the San Angelo Symphony and the Brazos Valley Symphony until her senior year of undergraduate studies. Vithya fell in love with the pursuit of arts administration and accounting in college, going on to amass over two decades of experience at a Big Four accounting firm which took her to Dallas, New York, and St. Louis. As Vice President and Student Committee Chair of Texas A&M University’s Opera and Performing Arts Society (OPAS), Vithya witnessed the profound impact of the arts upon individuals and communities. Vithya is delighted to use her background as a performer, administrator, and arts patron to support the arts in Dallas through ASF’s work to bring the arts to all. In her spare time, Vithya can be found enjoying quality time with family and friends, having returned to Texas to be closer to them.
